Guy sent me a stupid legal threat. Now my post about it is #1 for his name. http://ming.tv/flemming2.php/__show_arti...

What an odd person this Kris Hammond.

Very odd character, that Kriss Hammond. Maybe I shouldn't even try to have a battle of wits with somebody who appears to be unarmed. But the best strategy against threatened legal intimidation is openness and disclosure, I think.

In a Dutch blogging community I came across a situation that one (probably mentally unstable) person kept flaming someone else in his blog. They tried several strategies: ignoring, opening a discussion, banning him from the community. None of those strategies worked, unfortunately. I wouldn't know how to act upon such figures, but I guess my reaction would be to ignore it, remove content if they requested to do so and leave it at that. There is no way of winning (or losing) in such a case, even if the person threatening with a law suit has no legal grounds to do so.

He sent me another message where he sounded almost human, and didn't threaten me with anything. I guess we're making progress. I bet he hasn't seen my latest posting yet, though.

Or he did read your latest post, and concluded that a normal tone in his mail was the best strategy after all :-)
